Monica Basile is a Certified Professional Midwife, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Doula, Certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Master with 20 years of experience working with people and families in the childbearing year. She holds a PhD in gender, women's and sexuality studies from the University of Iowa and is the mother of an adult son.
She offers massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, Reiki (energy healing), and specializes in craniosacral therapy for infants. She also offers placenta encapsulation and teaches Mindful Birthing and prenatal yoga.
Monica believes that everyone deserves access to culturally appropriate care, and the opportunity to make informed choices. She is passionate about the transformative power of pregnancy and birth, and facilitating joyful embodiedness through compassionate, healing touch. Since 2006, Natalie has created a safe and compassionate space for her clients to explore, heal and connect to themselves. Her psychotherapy practice is based on the belief that transformation, growth and joy are available to us all. With an emphasis on the whole individual, she works with clients to create an individualized treatment plan.
Natalie holds certifications in trauma informed yoga and currently works at the Veterans Association in the Women's Health department and with their MOVE program. She is also teaching trauma informed yoga with Survivors of Sexual Trauma with the Rape Victim Advocacy Center. Additionally, she holds a certification in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders from Postpartum Support International.

Kristin shares touch and movement techniques along with patient advocacy for optimal labor, birth and recovery. She has 18 years of doula experience both in hospital and as a Sibling Doula for home births. Kristin has been a Pregnancy Massage Instructor at East West School of Integrative Healing Arts since 2007. She earned her LPN in 2016 and in addition to postpartum doula services, offers classes in Infant and Labor Support Massage Techniques for birthing couples. Her two teenagers were born at home. Kristin is available for private birth planning and healing consultation.

Alice holds a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado, as well as a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She moved to Iowa City from Ward, Colorado in September of 2003 to open my practice.
She chose to practice Eastern medicine over Western medicine because it treats the whole person; mind, body, and spirit. She also believe in the patient being an active participant in achieving and maintaining their own health. Kathy worked for many years as a doula and home birth assistant before embarking on her path to midwifery. She was a direct-entry midwife in the Midwest prior to beginning her education and training as a Nurse Midwife, and continues to support the recognition of direct-entry midwifery in Iowa. Her 18 years of attending births at home and in the hospital have uniquely qualified her to meet the needs of her clients with skill, understanding and compassion.
Kathy has also provided mentorship to pregnant teens and young mothers, hosted educational events to raise awareness of healthcare access for women at risk, and supports the rights of women to choose the healthcare options that serve them best.

Lynne Himmelreich is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa Department of OB/GYN and University of Iowa Women's Health Nurse-Midwife Service Director. Lynne has spent her 40-year career in maternity care listening to women and making hospitals family friendly. For the last 19 years as a midwife at the University of Iowa, she has promoted normal physiologic birth for women in a hospital setting and taught our future physicians to listen to women and have faith in normal birth.

After beginning her herbals studies when she had children in the late 90’s, Stephany obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Health Arts and Science from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont where she studied clinical herbalism and ethnobotany.Today, she is the event manager for the Traditions in Western Herbalism Conference and has taught at conferences across the country, including the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference, The American Herbalist Guild Symposium, the Midwest Herbfest and TWHC. She is a contributing teacher to The Herbal Academy of New England’s Entrepreneur Course and their Advanced Herbalism Course. Locally, she offers classes through many venues including Kirkwood Community College and Public Space One.

Dr. Jordan Long is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa where she received her doctorate degree in chiropractic as well as a bachelors degree in general science. While at PCC she received an education focusing on the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic, also learning multiple techniques focusing on caring for families. During her time at Palmer she was also an active member of the womens rugby team, as well as other on campus clubs. Jordan takes a particular interest in children and prenatal care. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2013. Jen gained 1000 clinical hours as a WIC peer counselor and as a volunteer for La Leche League International. She has 90 hours of lactation specific education, She took courses online through Health e-Learning. Previously (and while nursing two little ones) she pursued a BS in psychology from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Her interests in the lactation field are oral function and suck training, low supply and alternative methods to increase, and nursing in public breastfeeding policy.

Betsy Rippentrop, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and certified yoga teacher whose passion is teaching the power of the mind-body connection. She owns Heartland Yoga, where she offers regular classes and workshops on yoga for the mind, and has a private practice that provides mind-body psychotherapy, a holistic blend of western psychology and the eastern healing tradition of yoga. She helped found the Mindful Birthing Program, a holistic childbirth class that has served hundreds of families in the area. Her expertise in hypnosis and techniques for managing pain and anxiety make her a perfect coach for women interested in natural childbirth. She has published on the relationship between spirituality and health, women’s health, and chronic pain management and is co-author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Chakras.

Dr. Terry Wahls is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa where she teaches internal medicine residents, sees patients in a traumatic brain injury clinic, and conducts clinical trials. She is also a patient with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years. Dr. Wahls restored her health and now pedals her bike to work each day. All people need to be educated about their health and included as a crucial member on their own health team. Prenatal care provides a wonderful opportunity to bring this philosophy to fruition. Pregnancy is a unique time in any family’s life; a time that women are more motivated and thoughtful than ever before about what is going on with their body and what it needs to thrive and grow. Shannon has extensive experience treating individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings. She has experience working with grief and bereavement, aging issues, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Shannon provides counseling to all ages and populations, including couple and family issues. Her professional interests include, but are not limited to anxiety disorders, self-esteem, women’s issues, binge eating disorder, and postpartum depression and anxiety. Shannon provides counseling to all ages and populations, including couple and family issues. Her professional interests include, but are not limited to anxiety disorders, self-esteem, women’s issues, binge eating disorder, and postpartum depression and anxiety. She is also available for public speaking about a variety of mental health and substance abuse issues. Shannon is currently a member of the American Mental Health Counselor’s Association, Iowa Mental Health Counselor’s Association, and Postpartum Support International.
